| At the start of the
Twentieth century Exmouth was a small town by the Exe estuary. The town has
grown considerably since the last century.
In the past, the town was prone to flooding as the sea and the river used to
cover much of the town in the 18th century. High tide used to reach as far
as the Pilot Inn on Chapel Hill. Exmouth has a long and varied history, some
of which can be studied at Exmouth's Museum in Shepherds Row, just of the
Exeter rd. You will see in the photo gallery what Exmouth looks like today. |
